Anyway, in all seriousness, DERP Ratings are SVG-based graphical buttons for creators to use in supplying content information about their digital fiction to their readers. I came up with the idea after failing to find an established rating system for webcomics, and figured I might as well hash out my own solution for my own personal works. But I think my solution can also be easily applied to other works as well, such as on your website where you display your own webcomic or your own written story. If you do use them, feel free to let me know and I'll post a link here on this page.

DERP Ratings were graphically inspired by the ESRB ratings for games (somewhat ironically, since I'm not a gamer), but in contrast are released under a Creative Commons license, so feel free to use them wherever and whenever you like. But always remember that they were created only for the fun of it (you might even say I made them for the lulz) so they come with no legal assurance or protection. Also, be aware that since they are my own personal project, the source files for the DERP Ratings can and will change at any time, without notice. If you'd like to express thanks for their dubious existence, feel free to link back to this page or, even better, to my homepage or one of my other creative works.

DERP is a bacronym from derp, a word I find myself using frequently with entertaining results. DERP Ratings can be assigned to anything digital that might benefit from a quick communication of content to its intended target audience.

WARNING: Unlike their legalized counterparts such as ESRB and MPAA, DERP Ratings are no more than graphical objects and come with no legal assurance, stated or implied, so use and view them at your own risk.
